[igrav-steering] a few items from DEI WG

William,

Thanks for doing all of this. In regard to past chairs being ad hoc members of the steering committee for a year we did not come to a resolution on this. I was wondering the same thing as I wasn't sure if I should still be on the steering committee list. I would suggest the current steering committee (steering and working group chairs) take a vote on this. My thoughts are if we do stay on as ad hoc members we don't have any voting rights on the committee but can give input. Just my 2 cents.

Best,
Amber

Everyone,

For some of you, this might be your first message from the IGrav steering committee listserv. The steering committee is composed of those that chair the working groups. For others you have already been on this list.

I added every working group lead from this document<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ijrk-SNV79UQyKvXQFr19ieetfv4aN31x9qXVAkYGEE/edit?usp=sharing> to the steering committee listserv, and I made them moderators for their own listservs (each working group has a listserv).

In order to moderate your particular working group's listserv you will need to login in through the admin interface and use this password:
rink barbecue reuse ferry porthole
Please don't change the password since we are all using the same password for each list. If there is a need to change it, then we can but it would be important to let others know.

What I have not done: I have not yet removed prior working group leads from the steering committee. That seems the logical next step, unless we want to have prior working group leads as adhoc steering committee members for the year past their working group time. I am unsure if we came to a resolution on this with our last discussion.

I also ran a test on subscriptions, and it seems to work, BUT when someone (I'll call the requestor) first tries to subscribe, the listserv will send the requestor an email confirmation of the person's request, that the requestor will need to reply to (the text of the message will allow them multiple ways to confirm their subscription). Unfortunately, this email might be spam filtered. If the requestor does not respond to the email, then the request is dropped. If the requestor responds to the email, then the moderators of the lists will receive notice of the subscription request. The moderator must then log in to the listserv to confirm (accept) the subscription request.

Cheers,

-William

IGrav Steering Committee <igrav-steering at lists.igrav.org><mailto:igrav-steering at lists.igrav.org>

Dear all,

at our last IGRAV meeting the DEI WG has defined a new co-chair, Jaikhomba Singha, at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, and reading in cc. His email is already listed in this document<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ijrk-SNV79UQyKvXQFr19ieetfv4aN31x9qXVAkYGEE/edit?usp=sharing>, but apparently he is not receiving the mails from the steering group. Could please anyone add him to this email list so he can take effective part in the steering committee? thanks. not sure if this case is the only one, maybe a check of the email recipient would be useful?

To advance, the DEI WG plans to send out a questionnaire to Igrav members to get info about DEI best practices at their institutions, how the reach out to different public and other items discussed at our last meeting.

To this end it would be important to have an online space where to store material people might want to share or we find useful to collect. Is there the chance to have a Igrav storage space? Order of 1GB is likely enough. I apologize if this has already been discussed.

Furthermore, maybe other WGs have the idea of asking questions to Igrav members and it might be useful to collect all questions in one unique poll, provided this can be done timely. Interested WG chairs are invited to contact us.

Thank you, bye

Livia
