Dear colleagues,
Since you have an interest in education and outreach efforts on topics of gravity and gravitational waves, the modern physics session at ECU2021 might be something for you: https://ecu2021.sciforum.net
The session aims to offer a virtual format for our vibrant community of physicists, educators, and teachers so that we can continue collaborating and interacting as fully as possible. The conference is free of charge, and the primary focus will lie on good practices in teaching modern Einsteinian physics from primary to secondary schools.
Having learned from successful virtual conferences this year, we plan to offer a mix of pre-recorded talks, asynchronous discussions, scheduled live webinars, and informal discussions. Research shows that "flipped classrooms" work well in the school context. We hope that a "flipped conference" can make the virtual experience more enriching for participants across different time zones. The flipped format allows watching talks and reading abstracts beforehand; the live online time allows focusing on interactive discussions.
We are very excited to have a group of exceptional keynote speakers that, collectively, reflect the diversity and creativity of worldwide efforts to modernise physics education. Among our keynote speakers are Prof Daniel Whiteson who has co-authored the famous book "We Have No Idea: A Guide to the Unknown Universe", and Dr Julia Woithe who is the coordinator of CERN Science Gateway, CERN's new flagship project for science education. You can find the full list of our keynote speakers on the conference page.
Please share this with colleagues, teachers, and anyone who might be interested in modernising physics education.
Thanks
Magdalena?
